Chicago Ethnography Conference at UW – Madison

WISCER and University of Wisconsin – Madison were invited to host the 2022 Chicago Ethnography Conference.

The conference took place virtually on Saturday April 2, 2022 and features keynotes from Dr. Jessica Calarco and Dr. Mario Luis Small, who graciously allowed us to post recordings of their talks here.

Dr. Jessica Calarco on “Finding Your Question When You’ve Already Found Your Answer: A Jeopardy-Style Approach to Qualitative Research”

Dr. Mario Luis Small “On the Politics of Representation in Ethnographic Research”

This conference wouldn’t have been possible without our planning committee members – Sadie Dempsey, Chiara Packard, Wendy Li, Benny Witovsky, Ruby Bafu, Kristina Fullerton Rico, Ruo-Fan Liu, Sara Trongone, Greg Wilson, and Matthew Zinsli – and our faculty sponsor, Mike Bell.

We are also grateful to all of our sponsors for this event, UW-Madison Department of Sociology, UW-Madison Department of Community and Environmental Sociology, UW-Madison Interdisciplinary Training Program in Education Sciences, UW-Madison Department of Educational Policy Studies, The Wisconsin Center for Educational Research, and the University Lecture Fund.
