Welcome to my web page. I am the Head of Data Science at Convoy Inc, a Seattle-based tech startup revolutionizing the trucking industry. Prior to joining Convoy, I was the Head of Research, Analytics, and Machine Learning for Connections at Amazon and the Chief Economist and Head of Data Science at Amazon Lending. Before joining Amazon, I spent five years at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, DC where I was a Principal Economist in the Microeconomic Surveys Section and a Senior Economist in the Consumer Research Section. Before joining the Board, I was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Consumer Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I remain an honorary faculty fellow in the Department of Consumer Science and an affiliate at the Center for Financial Security.
My research broadly focuses on how public policies affect household finances and economic well-being. Current areas of emphasis include examining the determinants and effect of reverse mortgage borrowing, the effect of interventions to improve student loan borrowing, and the effect of high school financial education on later life financial behavior.
