sp001re - sp003re     Respondent's income from wages and
                      self-employment in the last 12 months.

sp004sp-sp006sp       Spouse's income from wages and self-
                      employment in the last 12 months.

sp007rp-sp023rp       Respondent or spouse's income from interest/dividends, 
                      social security, pensions, annuities, public 
                      assistance, other government programs, child support,
                      alimony, or any other source in the last 12 months.

sp024rp-sp027rp       Amount of child support or alimony paid by
                      respondent or spouse in the last 12 months.

sp028rp-sp029rp       Total amount of income received by respondent 
                      and spouse in the last 12 months.  

sp030hh-sp044hh       Other members of respondent's household (besides 
                      respondent and spouse) who received income from wages, 
                      salaries, commissions, or self-employment in the last 
                      12 months. These variables indicate relationship to 
                      respondent, amount of income, and position of this 
                      person in the household roster. 

The survey instrument to collect data for other income for the siblings
was substantially different from the instrument for the graduates.  

The main differences were that:  
a. Reports of all income except wage, salary and self-employment were collected
together for the spouse and sibling in the sibling survey.   In the graduate 
survey, separate reports for graduate and spouse were obtained for wage, 
salary and self-employment income just as in the sibling survey.  However the 
questions regarding all other types of income were asked so that the graduate 
could combine his/her amount with spouse's or report separate amounts. 
b.  For the sibling survey, amounts of income for other household members
are only obtained for wages, salary and self-employment.  In the graduate
survey, the graduate was asked to report on wages, salary, and self-employment
for up to 5 other household members; as well other types of income for up to 
2 other household members.  (If graduate gave separate reports of his/her 
income and spouse's income for these other types of income, then there was 
only space to report that type of income for one other household member.) 

Thus the variable names in this module do not correspond with the
names in the OINC module for the graduates; and the user should
use caution when comparing household incomes of siblings and graduates.

An overview of questions regarding receipt of income from the sibling Q file:
  Sib asked to report own income for wage, salary, and self-employment in a
  separate question for each type of income.
  Sib asked to report inccome of spouse for wage, salary and self-employment
  in separte questions for each type of income.
  Sib asked to report several other types of income (including interest, 
  social security, pension, child support, inheritance, public assisstance 
  and any other) for sib or spouse.  There were separate questions for 
  each type of income - but no distinction was made between sib's or 
  spouse's income. 
  Sib asked to report any wage, salary and/or self-employment income received
  by any one else in the household.  Up to 5 other household members
  could be indicated - relationship and if appropriate name were given.
  Wage, salary, and self-employment were lumped together.
