SICD10  ICD-10 Variables

OVERVIEW

  There are 59 ICD-9 variables in the 2005 sibling phone and mail interview. 
The variables in this module are simply a recode of these 59 ICD-9 variables. 
That is, a conversion mapping was applied to change the code to ICD-10.  The
sibling's original response was not reviewed for the ICD-10 variable.
 
  Please note that the original ICD-9 variables also include ICF codes and
ICD-9 Volume 3 codes.  There are no ICD-10 equivalent for these codes and thus
are coded -2 (inappropriate). Also, there is no collapsed version of these
(mostly private) ICD-10 variables.  Since the collapsed ICD-9 codes are public
and the code scheme is somewhat arbitrary, there is no need for a collapsed
ICD-10 variable.
