Marriage

Q1MARRIAGE Marriage

OVERVIEW

The Marriage Module measures current marital status and provides an update on
the marital status reported in the prior collection wave.

Since we asked about cohabiting status for the first time in the 2011 round of
interviews this is the first time we have been able to report on a change to a
prior cohabiting relationship.

Some people who reported living with someone in the prior wave still consider themselves in a cohabiting relationship even though they are no longer living in the same home, most often due to health reasons. In addition, some people reported new cohabiting relationships when their partner lived down the hall in their shared building.
