Sibling Mail: Health Services Module

OVERVIEW

The Health Services Module, although newly introduced to the 2011 mail survey,
is partially composed of survey items drawn from the Health Behaviors section
of the 2005 questionnaire. Items inquiring about the participant's perceptions
and expectations of their doctor(s), their feelings about medical care choices
and costs, the reasons they experienced any difficulties or delays in obtaining
healthcare in the past 12 months, and their perceptions of their overall
healthcare coverage and situation have been repeated from the 2005 round of
data collection. In addition to these, new items focusing on the participant's
awareness of their personal health and healthcare requirements, the extent to
which their health is entrusted to a single doctor, emergency room visits in
the past 12 months, the conscientiousness and consistency of the participant's
usual place of care, the perceived level of rapport they share with their
doctor, and the extent to which they are preoccupied with or pessimistic about
their personal health have been added.
