Mail: Social and Civic Participation

Graduate Mail: Social and Civic Participation Module

OVERVIEW

The Social and Civic Participation Module was initially introduced in the 1993
mail survey and replicated during the 2004 round of data collection. The 2011
edition, although similar to the 2004 questionnaire in many respects, includes
some new questions while excluding others. Items about the participant's
efforts to help a political party or candidate win the 2008 Presidential
election, pet ownership, high school class rank, and cell phone usage have been
added while items about using e-mail and the World Wide Web have been moved to
the Internet Module of the mail survey. With the exception of these changes,
the 2011 questionnaire closely parallels its 2004 predecessor.

For information about the participant's usage of e-mail and the World Wide Web,
see the mail administered Internet Module.
