COR 515 - SUMMARY

Variable Construction in the Marriage Section for 
WLS 1975 respondents and 1975 non-respondents. 

For 1975 respondents, the 1992 telephone questionnaire updated their marriage
in 1975 and obtained any additional marital history;=.

For 1975 non-respondents, the 1992 telephone questionnaire collected their
complete marital history.

Some 1975 marriage variables are also used to construct variables of the 
complete marital history and 1975 marriage.  The data users should be aware 
that some inconsistencies could occur when the same question is asked in both 
1975 and 1992 surveys, such as age and education of current spouse if the 
respondent remained in the 1975 marriage.
