COR 474 - SUMMARY

Couples among 1975 respondents and among 1977 Respondents

Using 1992 respondent's telephone and sibling's telephone to search for
couples, we found 103 pairs of 1975 respondents and 9 pairs of 1977 sibling
respondents sharing the telephone numbers and addresses.  However, we did
not try to find 1975 sibling respondents married to 1977 respondents.
(This is probably an undercount of respondent-sibling couples because the
sibling's phone number was not entered in the database consistently.  This will
be corrected at a later date.)

Of the matches we did locate, 95% of women have the same last name as their
husbands.

Among the 103 pairs of 1975 respondents.  There are two same-sex pairs:  one
is gay couple as mentioned during the interview; according to their answers in
household questions, the other pair, women, are friend and roommate.  One of
the pairs could also be siblings with the brother using the sister's phone and
address.
