CHANGE NOTICE #28 - data version 12.21 - December 2007

This change notice documents changes made to the WLS data between October 31,2007 and December 19,2007.

Release of sibling spouse survey data, addition of supplementary data and numerous changes to existing WLS data occurred between July 31,2007 and October 31,2007. Those changes are documented in Change Notice #27

Additional Formats for Three Supplementary Data Files

• 1975 Employer Characteristics available as SAS save set in addition to ASCII
• College Characteristics available as SAS, Stata, and SPSS in addition to ASCII
• 1957-1993 Female Graduate's Job History available as SAS, Stata and SPSS in addition to ASCII

Updates to WLS Data - WLS 1957-2007

Corrections/Additions to Previously Released Data

Status and Descriptive Variables

• Statmdsq, statkdna, statcdna were added to indicate status of medicare mail back SAQ, DNA collection kit and DNA consent form.
• Xstat05s added to indicate status of sibling spouse interview.

Graduate Survey

• 2004 employment module includes census detailed occupation and industry codes, prestige scores and major occupation and industry codes for graduates who responded to mail SAQ and did not respond to phone interview.
• 2004 kids nonnormative screener variables are now available.
• Variables ge048re and re048re added to parent modules to indicate if graduate in the random sample which received closeness/comparison questions.
• In the 2004 pensions, income and assets modules, improperly assigned inaps for lower and upper bounds are now correct.

2005 Graduate Spouse Survey

• In the pensions, income and assets modules, inap codes are now properly assigned to lower and upper bounds.

Sibling Survey

• Variables ce048re and se048re added to parent modules to indicate if sibling in the random sample which received closeness/comparison questions.
• The 2005 employment module includes census detailed occupation and industry codes, prestige scores and major occupation and industry codes for siblings who responded to mail SAQ and did not respond to phone interview.
• 2005 kids nonnormative screener variables are now available.
• In the 2005 pensions, income and assets modules, improperly assigned inaps for lower and upper bounds are now correct.
