Run Video Chat From Your Own Computer

Accessing computers remotely, whether it’s your office computer or Winstat, works great for most purposes. But anything that requires video or audio is not likely to perform well due to all the networking involved. So if you are looking to do video chat, do it on your own computer.

Blackboard Collaborate Ultra as well as some of the alternatives run completely in your browser and don’t need any setup. You can start a Blackboard Collaborate Ultra meeting by going to my.wisc.edu, searching for ‘blackboard’ (add it to your home page if you think you’ll keep using it)¬†and creating a session you can then share with others.

Remember you can use VPN and mapped network drives (Windows or Mac) to access files on the SSCC network from your own computer!
