Center Events

The Center for Law, Society and Justice (home of the Legal Studies and Criminal Justice Certificate Programs) is pleased to hold the following events.

Juvenile Reception Center/Detention Center tour: July 10: 2:30 to 3:30pm

John Bauman, the supervisor of the Juvenile Reception Center, will be hosting a tour of the Juvenile Reception/Detention Center for our students.

The tour is:

7/10 2:30-3:30

They are located at 210 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd Room 200. There is no need to confirm attendance and students can just show up for either date.

Dane County Jail tour: July 11 - 8:30am

Restricted to 18 students. RSVP by Friday, July 6. Location: 115 W. Doty St.

Federal Court Program: July 12 - 8am to 12pm


On Thursday, July 12, 2018, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin is conducting an orientation program for summer law clerks and new associates from the western district of Wisconsin, at the Robert W. Kastenmeier U.S. Courthouse, 120 North Henry Street, Courtroom 250, Madison, Wisconsin, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

CJCP students and staff have been invited to participate.

Mentoring events

The Center, along with the Legal Studies Association and the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Student Association, organizes two speed mentoring events per year. This is an opportunity to speak one-on-one with multiple individuals who work for criminal justice agencies, law firms, police departments, and not-for-profit organizations.
