Dissertation:
“Requesting, altruism, and the
consent for human tissue donation”
The dissertation is a mixed-method study of the request for human tissue donation that addresses the concept of "altruism," a long-standing problem in sociology (and the social sciences more broadly). Using an ethnographic and conversation analytic perspective, my study extends previous research on altruistic giving by looking closely at the actual practices of requesting and giving that constitute "altruistic" action.
