Soc 134: Problems of American Racial and Ethnic Minorities

Soc 134 FAQs:

Q1 I tried to enroll, but the course is full. Is there any way for me to still get in the course?

A1 Yes. On the first day of class, students can get on the wait list. If anyone drops during the first week (and there are usually a few who do so because of schedule conflicts), those on the wait list will be added. The course is capped at 400.

Q2 I was able to enroll, but not in the section I wanted. Can I switch to another section?

A2 Maybe. On the first day of class, students can get on the section switch list. If possible, we will switch students to sections in which space becomes available. Otherwise, you will need to attend the section for which you are enrolled.

Q3 What is the difference between the 3-unit and 4-unit versions of Soc 134?

A3 The 4-unit course requires a weekly (TA-led) discussion section, and the course is usually taught by a faculty member. The 3-unit course does not have discussion sections, and it is usually taught by a lecturer.

Q4 There are seats open, but I am having trouble registering for the course. How can I get help?

A4 You may contact the Sociology Department's Timetable Specialist, John Maynard, at jmaynard@ssc.wisc.edu.
