Introduction
I am a sociologist interested in educational inequality, neighborhood effects,
child poverty, race and ethnicity, stratification, and research methods.
I did my undergraduate work at Stanford, where I worked with Susan
Olzak, and my graduate work at Harvard, where I worked
with Christopher Jencks, Christopher Winship, and Katherine Newman
and was a doctoral fellow at the Kennedy School of Government's Multidisciplinary
Program in Inequality and Social Policy.
My hope is that my work will be informative and useful for those
whose goal it is to help increase educational opportunities for the
disadvantaged and to reduce the negative effects of poverty.
