Autobiographical Miscellany

This page is devoted to all that other stuff I do in my life. My unprofessional side, if you will. Most people have this junk on their myfriendsterfacespacebook page. I just use my webpage. Does that make me old and square? No, just square.

Scram! Couriers--Madison's only bike messenger service.

Lord of the Chainrings--Alleycat I participated in and organized in Madison. This website goes to the results page of LOTCR 3, the one I organized.

Photos from CMWC in New York City. Er... ummm... technically Jersey City. Needless to say, I was NOT crowned cycle messenger world champion.

Aniv de la Rev--Madison's *finest* punk-cumbia-new wave-garage-rock-ridiculous-string-of-adjectives-so-we-sound-cool-and-cosmopolitan band. I'm the bass player, and I'll be making my latest debut sometime soon. Gary's whereabouts are unknown. Like any good band, we have a myspace page. It is occasionally updated, like this website. Currently, we're recording an album, and we were just selected for the Madison Made Music Project, a benefit for the homeless in Madison.

575s--My old band. Haikus set to music? Brilliant! Jesse, Matt, and Sam were co-conspirators. Our album has been completed. Check the link for some mp3s and videos, including our hit single, "Edward Scissorhands."

New College of Florida--I have to put this here. I did a lot of growing up here. In addition to learning stuff, playing in dumb bands, wasting a lot of time, making wonderful friends, etc. You know, all those things one does in college. But really, this place is different.

New College Bike Shop--Volunteer, student-run bike shop on campus. I worked here for 4 years and was the manager for 3 years. I spent more time there than anywhere else on campus, thus yielding my moniker, "Bike Shop Peter." Oh, the grease and the mess and the parties and the community bike project and the rides and... I get a bit nostalgiac about this place. I hear it's in good hands right now, even though the web page hasn't been updated since 2003.

Peddler Bike Shop--The first bike shop I worked at. It's like they say, you never forget your first time. And you definitely never forget Hal, Big Dave, Gus, Gert, Chris, & co.

ACT--AIDS Network Cycles Together--fundraiser bike ride for the local service provider in southern Wisconsin. I did ACT II and III, had some fun, got a Master's Degree, and am (hopefully) publishing an article about it.

WORT 89.9 FM--Madison's community radio station. I am the bike traffic reporter emeritus. Rick Cathcart has taken over. We think our Bike Traffic Report is the only one in the country, perhaps the world! It's on the 8 O'Clock Buzz on Friday morning. Yes, it's a complete joke. You can hear my past performances in the archives!

Family and Friends

The following are links to websites of family members and friends.

One might call these "shout-outs."

http://www.parkenet.org--Family website on the mum's side. Photos, recipes, and the (in)famous art of my aunt Jani. See the Infinite Art link below for the updated and consumer-friendly version of her chronicled artistic endeavors.

Infinite Art--Fractal art, produced by aunt Jani. Buy something! This stuff is incredible. If you stumble on her website from this, tell her that her favorite goat sent you.

http://www.parkenet.com--Uncle Bill's website. Miscellaneous computer stuff and family-related things.

Jonas Hart photos--My new cousin-in-law. Excellent photographer.

Hmm, is that all the family websites? I guess so. Are my family members less web-savvy than myself? Only on the Brinson side; clearly, the Parke side has it together! Marilyn and Ron are so computer savvy, they don't even have time to update their webpage!

DIY Media--Good friend Phlegm's website. Possibly the most comprehensive resource for microradio and pirate radio on the web. Also possibly the most extensive collection of audio collages out there. And much, much, more.

Jonny Cycles--Jon Kendziera, maker of my most treasured of bicycles. Handmade in Madison, Wisconsin. These are excellent lugged steel bikes made by a good friend and wonderful person.

Kevin Wehr--Now a professor at Cal State University, Sacramento. Biker extraordinaire, progressive activist, sexy sociologist. He gives me hope that I can make it, too!

Geek in the Garden--Nature photos from my good friend, Denny. Really nice. Also see his blog, Our Tomorrow.

Eschew Myopia--Sam's blog, updated occasionally.

Containers Boundless--Chris L.'s blog. Passionate. Informative. Political. Funny. Everything a blog should be!

Culte Noir--Chris F.'s photography.

Dumb Stuff on the Web that I like

Random Garfield Generator--Funnier than the originals. Create your own, or check out the best that others have created in these comments.

Live Journal Photo Script--When you click the link, it pulls up the 30 most recently uploaded pictures to people's Live Journal pages. Pretty fascinating. And addictive.

Strong Bad Emails--In the bizzare cartoon universe Homestar Runner, Strong Bad's responses to his emails are often quite entertaining. I also like the Halloween cartoons that are elsewhere on the site.

Hey ya, Charlie Brown!--A music video of "Hey Ya!" by Outkast, comprised of excerpts from the Charlie Brown Xmas episode. Awesome!

Alternate Harry Potter Book Covers--If you are a man, and you are too ashamed to be reading the latest Harry Potter book in public, you can go to this website and print out a more manly cover. Warning: explicit content. But funny.

The Daily Show--It's smart. It's funny. It reminds me of me. Oh, and it's free. You don't have to buy cable TV to watch it. So, it's cheap. Also reminds me of me.

Are you talking to me? Are you talking to me? I don't see anyone else here, so you must be talking to me. Send me an email.
