Maximilian (Max)

Schmeiser

Welcome to my web page. I am an Economist in the Consumer Research Section at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Prior to joining the Federal Reserve I was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Consumer Science and the Associate Director for Research and Computing for the Center for Financial Security at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I remain an affiliate at the Center for Financial Security, Institute for Research on Poverty, and the La Follette School of Public Affairs.

My research broadly focuses on how public policies impact the health status and economic wellbeing of vulnerable populations. Current areas of emphasis include examining the effect of financial literacy on economic well-being, the measurement of financial literacy, how foreclosure counseling and mortgage modifications affect borrower outcomes, and how workplace accommodation for the disabled impacts application for SSDI.
