Research

My research interests span the areas of international migration, epidemiological personology, and family dynamics. I am particularly interested in examining the social, structural, and economic processes that shape international migration flows; effects of personality traits on important life-course outcomes; and the transmission of demographic behaviors over generations. A common thread in my research is the goal of gaining an understanding of possible causal mechanisms, both proximate and distal, that link social and structural factors to various demographic phenomena. I am also dedicated to choosing methodological techniques that best align with specific research questions.
