The John Levi MartinTM Company Story

Our story starts when my youngest daughter, Priscilla Presley Martin, asked me where she could find some high quality, wholesome sociology in New Jersey.  "Oh, that shouldn't be too hard," I told her.  "In this capital of higher education, I'm sure it's no trouble to find sociology that combines trenchant insight, rigorous attention to empirical detail, and state of the art methods."  But wouldn't you know, she kept pestering me and telling me she couldn't find any.  Well, we started knocking on doors as far up and down the coast as...well, anyway, we realized that if we wanted natural sociology, we'd plum need to hunker down and make it ourselves.

Before too long, our neighbors were stopping by to get a sample of the sociology my wife Thelma and I were brewing up, as word was getting out.  That's when we realized, there were plenty of people who wanted a high-quality sociology, but didn't know where to get it.  With the help of Rutgers University, we then started marketing our sociology for the intelligent sociological consumer.  Now everyone can get sociology that has just the natural ingredients any pseudo-science requires, without the harmful additives such as bourgeois ideology, policy implications, and phony moral posturing, that have been proven deleterious to laboratory animals in introductory classes.

Though we now publish scores of Nobel-prize-worthy articles every decade, we're still committed to the face-to-face, personal touch that made us so widely loved, as well as the "aw-shucks" humility of the country folk whose spirit suffuses our work.   In fact, we're always eager to hear your ideas about how we can improve our service:  please drop me a line at my personal e-mail account:  johnny-boy's ole mail-shack.  Thanks for being part of the John Levi MartinTM Company family!
