As promised, here are additional analyses that examine reasonable possibilities.

Could the effect be due to reverse causation?  No.

Could the MALE DOMINANCE effect be about ideology, or could the dyadic effects be about marriage?  No no.

Is there a better way to examine the effects of MALE DOMINANCE on a rational status seeker?  No.

Could there be a preference for those of equal status, ala Maslow's theory of dominance?  No.

And here are tests of significance difference across equations for the most important models.
