Output data sets are the key to getting summary statistics as data for further manipulation: everything from tables of counts and percents, to collecting coefficients and p-values.
Many SAS statistical procs have options for saving output statistics as a SAS data set. Additionally, with ODS, any SAS output can be saved as data.
