Declaring a Sociology Major

If you are a student in the College of Letters and Sciences and wish to declare a major in sociology, it is in your best interest to do so as soon as possible. If you are not currently in L&S, you need to be admitted to L&S before you can declare.

  1. Get a campus copy of your transcript with the L&S indicators. You need to ask specifically that the copy include the L&S indicators. Instructions for obtaining campus copy transcripts.

  2. Make an appointment for advising with the undergraduate advisor, Ellen Jacobson, or come in during her walk in hours (see the advising page for these times). During your meeting you will fill out an actual declaration.

  3. If you change your plans, you may drop your sociology major by coming in to see the undergraduate coordinator and requesting to drop the major.
