Overview of Services

APL facilitates access to various demographic data sources and provides instruction in the application of these data to clients’ specific needs. APL staff also offer a wide array of research methods to enable clients to better use and understand information about demographic trends and processes.

School Enrollment Projections

The Applied Population Laboratory prepares projections of enrollments by grade for Wisconsin schools and school districts, upon request. Forecasts are made of births and enrollments, and a final report containing procedures, results, and charts and graphs is sent to the school.

Custom Reports & Maps

We provide custom reports for specific populations and geographies. These include demographic forecasting and a variety of other statistical modeling techniques used to discern relationships that underlie trends in the data. Custom projects include site location, workforce analysis, and projections for special populations (e.g. forecasts of high income households). See examples on the Reports and Maps page.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) include: graphical representation of data; overlays with natural resource or other geophysical data; interactive online map serving; spatial statistical and modeling; and a number of other customized GIS applications that are tailored to clients’ specified needs.

Contact us to discuss your individual data needs.

Geographic Information Analysis (GIA) Support

APL staff direct and support the Geographic Information Analysis (GIA) within the Center for Demography and Ecology. Our service mission in this area is to maintain CDE's excellence in GIA research, training, and production/management of georeferenced demographic data.
