About the Study

You have been invited to participate in a confidential research study about people’s attitudes about sexual exclusivity in marriage. You have been invited because you are currently married and are living in one of the targeted communities.

The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding of how couples make decisions about how to limit their social and sexual activity throughout their marriages. Because of this, we are interested in having both members of a couple complete the survey.

The first portion of the study involves this survey. The second portion involves a series of interviews with participants who have taken the survey. The interview portion of the study enables us to explore in more depth the meanings of commitment, love, sex, and intimacy, as well as the sexual behaviors and attitudes of married couples. If you are interested in participating in the second portion of the study, you will be given an opportunity to provide us with contact information at the end of the survey. This contact information will be destroyed after the interview is completed or if you change your mind later about participating.
