Paul J. Gertler is a senior economist at RAND, a coeditor of the Journal of Human Resources, and editor of this Special Issue on the Family and Intergenerational Relations. Lee A. Lillard is a senior economist, Director of the Center for Aging Studies, and Associate Director of the Population Research Center at RAND. Earlier versions of these papers were presented at a conference on Social and Economic Factors Affecting Intergenerational Relations. The conference was sponsored by the RAND Center for Aging Studies and the RAND Population Research Center.
