IRP Seminars
IRP Seminar Series, 2008–2009
IRP seminars cross disciplinary boundaries to bring the latest research by
top poverty scholars on and off campus to the Institute. They take place Thursdays,
12:15-1:30 p.m., 8417 Social Science Building (unless otherwise noted), and
are open to the public.
New seminar dates will be added as seminars are confirmed.
In addition to a variety of seminars on poverty research by IRP affiliates,
we will feature four special series:
This interdisciplinary series brings a distinguished group of scholars from other
universities to the UW–Madison campus to present their work on a broad range
of policy interventions to support healthy families.
This seminar series provides an opportunity for poverty researchers who recently
joined the ranks of IRP affiliates to introduce themselves and their research
interests and to present some of their recent work.
IRP is marking the 10th anniversary of its Visiting Scholars Program in 2008
by introducing an annual seminar series for participating poverty studies scholars.
The intent of the program, which is supported by the University, is to enhance
the research interests and resources available to scholars from underrepresented
racial and ethnic groups.
New Perspectives in Social Policy
The annual New Perspectives in Social Policy seminar series seeks to reach beyond
familiar and well-explored fields of poverty research, to challenge accepted
paradigms, and to open paths to new research models and methodologies. The series
was launched in 2006, to mark the Institute's 40th anniversary.
