To earn a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science with Honors in economics, a student must complete the following requirements:
A “capstone” experience consisting of:
- Econ 5813 (Honors Thesis, one semester) or Econ 681-82 (Senior Honors Thesis, two semesters). Either 681-82 or 581 should be taken after completing Econ 580.
or
- A course in mathematical analysis that has three semesters of calculus as a prerequisite (at present, an example of such a course is Math 521) and afterwards a graduate course in economics (Course number >700) with a grade of B or higher.
* Requires 3 semesters of calculus, one course in linear algebra, 3 advanced electives in economics and econometrics (Econ 410). See complete description in catalog.
2 This course will be a renumbered econ 590 and it has econ 410 as a prerequisite (Econ 410 requires one semester of calculus)
3 Econ 581 will be a new honors level 3 credit course that will have econ 580 as a prerequisite. Students may continue the project started in econ 580.
4 To enroll in a graduate level course students need to have completed successfully the mathematical analysis class and obtain consent of the instructor.
