Dear May 2012 Graduates:

We made it! After four years of hard work we will soon be proud alumni of the Department of Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As members of one of the elite economics programs in the world we have received a top notch education. We have benefited from the Madison Initiative for Undergraduates which allowed our department to hire some of the best professors in the country. The Department of Economics has played a larger role on campus every year and we’ve grown so much. Did you know the number of economics majors has almost tripled in the past six years? I am proud to say that I have been a part of this. And so have you.

Why give?

We’ve reaped the benefits of this extraordinary department and now it is our turn to give back and invest in its future. 3% of economics alumni currently give back to the department. Let’s show our alumni how much we care. As the next generation of Wisconsin Economics Alumni we can do our part to maintain the quality of the Department of Economics.

Our donations will help retain our best and brightest faculty, provide scholarship and financial aid to ensure accessibility to the program and support the bridge to post-graduation life provided by career services. Did you know our Economics Advisory Board funds our career advisor?.

While our resources may be limited, as graduating seniors we can set the example by donating en masse. All it takes is $20.12. To help the class make an even bigger difference, two of the UW’s most loyal alums, John and Tashia Morgridge, have offered to match gifts made between $20 and $200 this year!

With your donation you can help send the message that maintaining the quality of the Department of Economics is critical to past, graduating and future alumni.

Sincerely,
Ray Kluender, Class of 2012
