New Economics PhD Students
2012-2013 Academic Year

Monday, August 13

10:00 – Econ PhD student orientation in 8417 Social Science Building (all incoming students must attend). Lunch will be provided.

Tuesday, August 14

1:00 – Social Science Computing Co-op Orientation

Wednesday, August 15

9:00 am - Math boot camp starts

Monday, August 27

9:00 to 4:00 – Day 1 TA Training in room 8417 Social Science Building (required for all first-time TAs)

Thursday, August 30

9:00 to 4:00 – Day 2 TA Training in the Humanities Building; register in room 3650 Humanities (required for all first-time TAs).  Registration begins at 8:30.   

Additional important events:

International Student Services (ISS) has prepared a Mandatory Orientation. Graduate Students are required to attend an ISS Orientation. Please choose one of the following orientation sessions to attend; Registrations are due Friday, August 10th.
 
August 16th, Thursday, 12:00 – 4:00 pm, in Union South, Marquee Theatre
August 21st, Tuesday, 12:00 – 4:00 pm, in Union South, Marquee Theatre
August 27th, Monday, 12:00 – 4:00 pm in Union South, Marquee Theatre

Exchange Students will have an ISS orientation on Thursday August 30, 2012. http://iss.wisc.edu/fall%202012%20orientation.html

SPEAK Test:  All non-native English speakers MUST take the SPEAK test once during the fall semester, unless informed otherwise by the graduate advisor. Fall SPEAK test dates are:

Monday, August 6th - 1:00 pm
Monday, August 27th - 9:30 and 10:15 am
Wednesday, August 29th - 9:30 and 10:15 am
