1. FERRET ANNOUNCEMENT: FERRET, the data extraction collaboration between the Bureau of Labor Statistics and Census Bureau, has announced that it is switching over to a new application known as Data Ferret. FERRET will no longer be supported, and datasets will no longer be added to it. The new extractor must be downloaded to the desktop. For more information see:

2. UK NDAD: The United Kingdom National Digital Archive of Datasets has released "Historic Mortality Data Files: 1901-1995." "Two datasets which provide summary data for England and Wales for 1901-1995 on the number of deaths each year by cause of death, sex and age group, together with annual population estimates by sex, year and age group. The datasets are based on data collected by the Office for National Statistics and its predecessors." Note: Data may be downloaded in comma separated value [.csv] format, acquired via media, or extracted via an online query system. There are fees for the media acquisition choice. Users must register with NDAD for access to files.
