Collection Development Policy: The Library maintains a specialized collection in population studies with emphasis on particular areas in accordance with the priorities and research interests of Center faculty, staff, and students.

Service Policy: Some holdings of the Center Library are unique to the UW-Madison campus. Access to these materials by non-CDE faculty, staff, and students will be maintained. In large part, it is the interdisciplinary nature of the collection that is unique, and the same materials are available to UW users through the General Library System and the professional school libraries. For use of such materials and for reference assistance, non-CDE patrons may be directed to other appropriate units.

Circulation Policy: Circulation of print materials is limited to faculty, staff, and graduate students affiliated with the Center for Demography and Ecology and the Center for Demography of Health and Aging. Circulation privileges are also granted to faculty staff, and graduate students in the following departments and research institutes: Sociology, Rural Sociology, Anthropology, Economics, the Institute for Research on Poverty, the Institute on Aging and Adult Life, Social Work, Human Development and Family Studies, and Preventive Medicine. All users must provide information for a registration database. All materials taken from the library must be signed out. Materials are subject to recall after two weeks. Reference/Reserve materials may be recalled after one day.
