Announcing TARGET:
A new research circle on International Policy & Gender Policy

What is going on in the international policy arena? How are women's issues being advanced? Who is advising governments and giving expert opinions?

If you are interested in the answers to these and other questions, or think you might have some of the answers, this research circle is for you!

This new research circle focuses on how organizations and governments "mainstream" gender equity concerns into international policy, particularly on the transformation of feminist knowledge into "gender expertise" in various policy arenas. This project is designed to (1) deepen feminist policy-making expertise in Madison, (2) build connections between Madison gender scholars and those considered "gender experts" in policy institutions, and (3) advance UW as a globally recognized center for feminist policy knowledge.

TARGET is a collaborative project of the Women’s Studies programs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Northeastern University in the US, and the QUING network of the European Union. In the US, it is partially supported by funds from UW’s International Institute, the Division of International Studies and Global Studies Programs, (Click here for grant proposal), the Provost and Dean of Arts and Sciences at Northeastern University. TARGET receives additional support from the Fund for the Improvement of Secondary Education. (FIPSE). (Click here for grant proposal).
